Sheriff Beam Announces Intent To Run For Re-Election
Bill Beam, Sheriff of Lincoln County, announces his intent to run for re-election in the Republican primary on March 8, 2022.
I have 38 years of experience in law enforcement, all here in Lincoln County with the last four years as your Sheriff.
As Sheriff, we have begun the manpower and infrastructure increases to begin the addition of the 4th district being a new Denver District. The district system is acknowledged as the best way to provide law enforcement services to our citizens. The Denver District will not only double the current number of officers working in the east end of Lincoln County but will also shrink the response areas for the officers working in Baker District (central area of the county) and in Adam District (west side of Lincoln County). All areas will be positively affected by the addition county wide.
During my term I have increased the Lake Patrol to 12 hours a day ,7 days a week during the summer, from Memorial Day through Labor Day, as well as patrolling on the weekends until November. We now have a new 23 foot Metal Shark Police Boat. This boat will serve Lincoln County for many decades. The boat has side panel sonar with a 3D view of the lake bottom, weather and GPS equipment with the latest technology.
We have AFIS Fingerprint technology computer here at the Sheriff’s Office that gives us the ability to run fingerprint comparisons within minutes instead of taking our prints to other agencies.
We are in the process opening a new location for the East District Office for the Charlie District and the new Denver District.
With support of the County Commissioners, we have upgraded our SWAT team equipment. We have implemented a Crowd Management Team, a Negotiations Team, and expanded both our Land and Search Team and Dive Team. We have supplied patrol officers with Molle Outer Carrier Vest allowing officers to get the weight of the equipment off their hips and onto the shoulders to improve comfort and avoid injuries. Also purchased and implemented our Axon body camera’s that records an officer’s actions throughout their performance of duty. Officers are also equipped with TASERS which gives the officers a less lethal option if needed. New Sig AR-15 rifles were purchased for all road patrol officers.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s has a Drug Task Force which partners with the DEA, Homeland Security and our local Narcotics unit. During my term of office, we have seized over 9-thousand pounds of illegal narcotics, seized over 6.8 million dollars and made 2,181 arrests.
